Sustainability Policy
Our Commitment at Planet Positive Planning
At Planet Positive Planning, sustainability is at the core of our operations and our mission. We recognise that we are in a climate crisis, and we take our responsibility seriously. We exist to provide climate-aware financial guidance — to help people plan, create, and fund their future lives while contributing positively to the planet. Our environmental, social, and financial strategies aim to reduce our negative impact and help our clients do the same. Here’s how we do it:
Environmental
Virtual Business Structure: Our setup allows us to work remotely and avoid unnecessary travel, using the most efficient and practical modes of transport when travel is required.
Renewable Energy: We use 100% renewable electricity and aim to maintain carbon neutrality in our operations, offsetting any residual emissions.
Eco-Friendly Stationery: We use recycled or recyclable stationery wherever possible and prioritise sustainable sources for wood and paper. More importantly, we minimise the use of physical stationery and avoid printing documents unless absolutely necessary.
Reduce, Reuse, Recycle: We purchase only what we need, reuse second-hand products, and recycle or compost as much waste as possible. We aim for zero waste to landfill.
Energy Efficiency: We use low-energy appliances whenever available to minimise energy consumption, and we track our energy usage to identify areas for improvement.
No-Fly Policy: We avoid air travel where possible, working with clients and partners via video communications.
Digital Services: We develop services that can be delivered without physical goods production or transportation.
Climate Advocacy: We publicly support the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty and participate in local tree planting initiatives. We believe in using our voice to advocate for climate action.
Social
Customer Relationships: We maintain healthy relationships with our clients, accommodating their needs wherever possible. We conduct annual feedback surveys to understand how we can improve and ensure our services deliver genuine positive outcomes.
Accessible Services: We work to make climate-aware financial guidance accessible to those who may not be able to afford traditional financial advice. We provide free resources and tools to support financial literacy.
Local and Ethical Suppliers: We prioritise local suppliers to reduce our carbon footprint and support the local economy. We screen suppliers for their social and environmental practices and only work with ethical organisations that treat their people well.
Supplier Diversity: We track supplier ownership and set targets for purchasing from diverse-owned businesses, including women-owned and minority-owned enterprises.
Charitable Giving: We donate a minimum of 5% of revenue to charitable causes, focusing on climate action and social justice. We also commit to dedicating time to volunteer activities and pro-bono work.
Fairtrade and Equal Opportunities: We use fairtrade products where appropriate and comply with all equal opportunities laws and regulations. As a diverse-owned business, we are committed to promoting inclusion in financial services.
Ethical Banking: We bank with financial institutions that share our values and commitment to positive social and environmental impact.
Financial
Purpose-Driven Business: We are committed to building a business that balances profit with purpose. Our mission to provide climate-aware, values-aligned financial guidance is central to everything we do.
Cost Efficiency: We keep costs to a minimum by operating virtually and using modern communication technologies.
Ethical Operations: By implementing our social and environmental sustainability policies, we avoid ethical liabilities and reputational risks.
Financial Prudence: We minimise debt and other financial liabilities.
Efficient Systems: We implement simple and effective business systems so that the business runs efficiently.
Transparent Reporting: We track our environmental and social impact and publish annual reports on our progress. We measure what matters, including carbon intensity, charitable giving, and client outcomes.
Lobbying
We do not engage in lobbying activities, make political contributions, or seek to influence public policy or legislation. As a solo entrepreneur business focused on life and financial planning, we have no involvement in advocacy as defined by B Corp standards. Should this change in the future, we commit to adopting a responsible lobbying policy aligned with our mission and B Corp values, and to publicly reporting on it annually.
___
